About our Clothes

All of our clothes are 100% cotton, boutique quality and made in sweat shop free studios. Our tag line is "made for babies, NOT by them" and we only use suppliers that do not use child labor. While 90% of our items are made in downtown LA, even the pieces that are made elsewhere are made by companies that meet and exceed fair labor standards AND local labor laws.

The dyes we use for silk screening are formaldehyde free and completely safe for babies ... even if (when) they chew on it.

About the founder

The first dollars Lisa ever earned were from selling her artwork on the streets of Waikiki.... She was 6 years old. Since that time she has worked in many diverse styles and mediums, from wire sculpture to painting and quilting to graphic design. Having been raised in Hawaii with it’s unique mix of cultural influences and then living, working, studying, and traveling around the world, her aesthetic influences and inspiration span the globe. While she continued her artistic pursuits, she also had a career in hi tech/ telecom, earned an MBA, and spent years as a hi-tech market analyst and product manager.

Lisalani was started in 2006 when Lisa’s oldest was 2 years and youngest only 5 months old. The impetus came from friends who wanted copies of the original graphic art she created for her children’s rooms. She started by putting her graphics on a few clothing items for her toddler’s friends. As more people saw her graphics, they started asking for them. She soon had a loyal following of repeat customers who loved giving her items for baby shower gifts. Reports of having the “wow” gift at baby showers and seeing birth announcements and new baby websites starring her clothing fueled her excitement. She does not want people to buy her items just because they need another onesee or baby gift, she wants them to buy it because they HAVE to have it.
